Documents include:
- Valid travel document (national passport or other document that allows the holder to travel internationally)

- Proof of sufficient funds – bank statements or letter from relative etc
- Proof of earnings such as a letter from employer confirming employment details (start date of employment, salary, role, company contact details)
- Confirmation of legal residence

As part of the online application process, you can upload your documents yourself. If you do this, you will receive a document checklist which you will need to keep.
Alternatively, VFS Global offers a service which allows you to digitally submit all the necessary documents and personal information from the comfort of your home, without sending them to UK Visas and Immigration. Step 6 – Visit the visa application center
On the day you visit the application center, remember the following things:
You must attend the appointment for your visa application. You cannot send someone in your place

- Take a valid passport or travel document with at least 1 page that is blank on both sides

Step 8 – Pick up your documents
You may collect your passport from the visa application center or you can arrange for it to be returned to you via courier. If you collect your document in person, you need to take the receipt issued by the visa application center and a form of Government identification.
You’ll get a letter with the result of your application. The letter will explain what you need to do next.
The outcome of your application will be either:
- Approved – your visa will be attached to your passport and will show the type of visa granted, the dates your visa is valid and any conditions you need to meet, for example, no work or unable to claim benefits. If you notice any errors with the visa, you must report it to UK visas and immigration immediately
- Rejected – you will receive an explanation as to why your application was refused and will explain whether you have the right to an administrative review or an immigration decision appeal
The following reasons may result in a rejected application:
- Missing documents – make sure you submit all the required documents
- Applying for the wrong type of visa – you need to be aware of the type of visa you need depending on your reason for traveling. Spend time getting to know the different types of visas before you apply and use the government resources to check
- Lack of funds – you must be able to pay for your trip yourself or prove that someone else will be supporting you financially
