Applying for a Slovenia Schengen Visa from Nigeria
If you were born in Nigeria or are living there with a residence permit, you can apply for a Slovenia visa.
There is no embassy for Slovenia in Nigeria, however, the Embassy of Hungary in Abuja represents Slovenia, so you can apply for a visa at this mission.
You may apply up to six months prior to your trip. Applications are processed in 15 days, so you should submit your application no earlier than 15 days before your departure date.

How Can I Apply for a Slovenia Schengen Visa from the Embassy of Hungary in Nigeria?
To apply for your Slovenia visa, you will need to book an appointment at the embassy. You should apply in plenty of time, especially during peak times, because the embassy will not fast-track your application.
Step 1 – Book your appointment
Making appointments with the embassy, consulate or visa application centre is generally free and can be done yourself. Step 3 – Prepare your documents
Before you apply, you should know what documents you need to submit along with your visa application. You can download the checklist from the embassy’s website. Spend time getting to know the requirements before you start to prepare your documents because they are different depending on the purpose of your trip! You should also prepare photocopies as well as providing the original documents, so don’t forget to do that too!
Documents include:
- Application form
- Passport with a validity of at least three months after your trip and with at least two blank pages and must have been issued in the last 10 years

- Documents relating to accommodation: either a letter of invitation from the person you are visiting (if applicable) or other proof of accommodation such as a hotel reservation
- Proof of itinerary such as a confirmation of the booking of an organised trip
- In the case of transit: visa or other entry permit for the third country of destination & tickets for onward journey
- Flight reservation which must be a round-trip ticket
- Proof of financial means – 3 months bank statements
- Proof of employment: bank statements/payslips
- Proof of real estate property (if applicable)
- Proof of integration into the country of residence: family ties, professional status etc
- Proof of travel insurance – minimum cover 30,000 Euros

- Visit the Visa Reservation website to choose the right package
- Submit the travel details and make the payment online
- Receive flight itinerary in email
Step 4 – Submit your visa application
On the day of your appointment:
- Arrive early
- Take all your documents
- Provide a photograph and a scan of your fingerprints (this will be done during your appointment)
When you are seen by the visa official, they will check your application and you may be asked questions if they need to verify anything. Typical questions include:
- Why are you going to Slovenia?
- Are you going to meet anyone there?
- Have you got permission to take time off work?
- Are you married?
Step 5 – Pay your fees
The Embassy of Hungary accepts the visa fee only in Nigerian Naira. The payments are to be made at the Maitama Main Branch of Zenith Bank Plc. A 200 NGN additional deposit fee may apply.
Processing your application is subject to receiving the payment by the deadline stated on the slip given. Payments are to be made directly after submission, but no later than the close of business on the next banking day. If the payment is not received, the application will not be processed.

Step 6 – Receive your visa
The embassy will notify you when a decision has been made and you can collect your passport.
The decision will be either:
- Approved – you will find your visa inside your passport
- Rejected – this could have been for many reasons. You have the right to appeal the decision within 8 days
Rejection reasons include:
- No proof of accommodation – you must provide details of where you are staying when you are in Slovenia
- Travel insurance at adequate – the travel insurance should cover at least 30,000 Euros
- Photographs did not meet full specifications – your photos must meet certain requirements, so check what these are before applying (see above)
- Purpose of trip is not clear – you must provide proof of why you are visiting Slovenia such as a travel itinerary
COVID REGULATIONS
Entry Requirements
A person who meets the recovered/vaccinated/tested rule (RVT rule) may enter the Republic of Slovenia without being ordered to quarantine at home. The RVT rule is met if you provide one of the following certificates:
- A negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours or a negative rapid antigen test taken no more than 48 hours prior to entry to Slovenia
- EU Digital COVID Certificate in digital or paper format and with a QR code (EU DCC)
- A digital COVID certificate of a third country in digital or paper format and with a QR code, which must contain the same data as the EU DCC and be issued in English by a competent health authority of the third country (DCC of a third country)
- A certificate of COVID-19 vaccination
- A certificate of a positive PCR test result that is older than 10 days, but not older than 180 days
- Proof of recovery from COVID-19 and proof of vaccination against COVID-19 to show that the person has received one dose of a vaccine within a period of no more than 180 days since receiving a positive PCR test result or from the onset of symptoms
A person who does not provide one of the above is referred to quarantine at home for a period of 10 days.
