Poland Schengen Visas
In 2020, embassies around the world received 103,743 visa applications for Poland and they rejected 4,995 (4.8%). The Embassy of Poland in Abuja received 256 applications and rejected 176 (68.5%).

Applying for a Poland Schengen Visa from Nigeria
If you are a citizen in Nigeria or if you are legally residing there, you will need to apply for a visa to go to Poland.
To apply, you will need to submit your visa application and supporting documents to the Embassy of Poland in Abuja. To get your visa in time, you should apply no later than two weeks before your trip.
The embassy will make the decision on the visa within 15 calendar days. In certain cases, the time to make the decision can be extended up to 30 or 60 days.

Types of Poland Schengen visas available from the Embassy of Poland in Nigeria
There are 3 types of visas available:
C-Type Schengen Visa – for tourism,
business or visiting family or friends – up to 90 days
D-Type national visa – for
employment, studies etc., for more than 90 days
A-Type airport transit visa – choose this visa type if you plan to pass through an international transit area of a Schengen airport traveling with a passport of one of these states: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sri Lanka.
It is important that you apply for the correct type of visa, otherwise, your application could be rejected.
Applying for a Poland Schengen Visa in Nigeria?
There are a few things you need to do to apply for a Poland visa in Nigeria:
- Make an appointment
- Complete your application form
- Prepare your documents
- Attend your appointment
- Collect your passport
Make an appointment
Making appointments with the embassy, consulate or visa application center is generally free and can be done yourself. - Submit the appointment details, the visa you are applying for, consulate you need the appointment for, the country you need the appointment IN and make the payment

- Go to the embassy’s website and click on “visas”
- Click on the visa you are applying for
- Click on “how to book an appointment”

- Read the instructions and complete the image verification and then click on “continue”
- Choose a convenient date and time for your appointment
Complete your application form
Go to the embassy’s website and click on “visas”

You will be directed to the embassy’s e-konsulat system. Choose the country you are applying from and the appropriate Consular Office:

Click on the link to fill in the application. You must do this within 1 hour of making an appointment, otherwise, the application will be cancelled:

Prepare your documents
Check what documents are required before you apply for your visa. A full list of documents can be found on the embassy’s website, so be sure to read this before submitting your application. You should also prepare photocopies as well as providing the original documents, so don’t forget to do that too!
Documents include:
- A visa application form filled via the e-konsulat system, printed and signed
- A 3.5 x 4.5 cm colour photo. See photograph specifications
- Passport issued within last ten years, valid for at least three months from the expected return date, with at least two blank pages for visas. If you have another valid passport, you should attach it to the visa application form
- A copy of the passport page with personal data and a photo.
- Copy of flight ticket or flight reservation including return flight
- Travel medical insurance covering any expenses that may arise during their stay (s) in the territory of the Member States relating to the need to return for medical reasons, the need for urgent medical care, emergency inpatient treatment or death. Must cover the duration of your trip and a minimum amount of insurance is EUR 30,000
- Copy of an ID document to confirm residence within the consular district of your application
- Proof of sufficient funds – bank statements x 3 months, credit card with a certificate of means available, income certificate from your employer for the last three months and salary slips, pension slips, regular income generated by property
- Proof of accommodation (for example, an official letter of invitation or a hotel reservation)
- A document to confirm the purpose and the conditions of your planned stay in Poland
- For minors: – written consent of the child’s parent(s) & parents’ passports & birth certificate
- Any proof of ties in Nigeria (marriage certificate, proof or real estate property)

If you’re planning to obtain your flight reservation for visa without paying for the ticket, all you have to do is follow the 3 simple steps below:
- Visit the Visa Reservation website to choose the right package
- Submit the travel details and make the payment online
- Receive flight itinerary in email

Attend your appointment
On the day of your appointment, you must do two things:
- Show up on time
- Take your application and ALL your supporting documents
When you visit the embassy, you will:
- Provide biometric data
- Answer any additional questions about your application – just answer as best you can and be honest
- Pay the visa fee
Questions include:
- Are you going to Poland on your own?
- What do you know about Poland?
- When will you return to your home country?
- Are you going to work in Poland?

Collect your passport
After the application has been accepted by the embassy, you will be given a receipt (payslip) with the date of collection of the passport. The visa should be collected by you or a representative, who should present an authorization letter that has been signed by you.
The decision will be either:
- Approved – your visa will be inside your passport
- Rejected – this would have been for a specific reason and you can appeal the decision within 14 days
If your application has been accepted, the visa will be attached to one of the pages in your passport. If it is rejected, you will be told the reason why. There are many reasons why a visa application is rejected including:
- Travel insurance not valid – you should ensure the travel insurance has a minimum cover of 30,000 Euros for certain risks, covers the duration of your trip and covers you in all Schengen countries to be valid
- No invitation letter – if you are being invited to Poland, you need to provide an invitation letter
- Passport issued over 10 years ago – your passport is valid if it was issued with the last 10 years. If it wasn’t, you need to obtain a new one before applying for your visa
- Photos do not meet specifications – the photos you provide must meet certain specifications (see above)

Entry Requirements
Regardless of your means of transport you are subject to a 14-day entry quarantine, unless you meet one of the following conditions:
- fully vaccinated and 14 days have passed since the final dose. Proof of vaccination is required
- children not older than 12 traveling under the guardianship of adults who are vaccinated against COVID-19
- recovered from a SARS-CoV-2 infection in the last 6 months
