If you are planning on visiting Luxembourg and you are a citizen of the Philippines, you will need to apply for a visa!
There is no visa mission for Luxembourg in the Philippines. Instead, Belgium represents Luxembourg. That means, your application will be processed by the Belgium Embassy in Manila. However, you will submit your application to VFS Global in Manila.
You can apply up to 3 months before your departure date, so make sure you apply in plenty of time. Applications generally take around 15 days to be processed, although it could take as many as 30 days depending on the nature of your application.
Types of Schengen visas offered at VFS Global/the Belgium Embassy in Manila
You must ensure you apply for the correct visa. If you don’t, it could jeopardize your application. The one you must apply for depends on why you wish to go to Luxembourg and how long you wish to stay for.
Short-stay – the following visas will allow you to stay in Luxembourg for a maximum of 90 days.
- Visa for tourism (visa C)
- Visa for family visit or private invitation (visa C)

How Can I Apply for a Luxembourg Schengen Visa from VFS Global in the Philippines?
To begin your application, go to VFS Global’s website and click on: “How to Apply”:
You will then see a series of steps you will need to follow:
- Step 1 – Know your visa
- Step 2 – Complete your application form
- Step 3 – Make an appointment
- Step 4 – Prepare your documents and submit them to the visa application center
- Step 5 – Collect your passport
Step 1 – Know your visa
As mentioned about, this step is important, so take the time to know what visa you need to apply for (see above).
Step 2 – Complete your application form
The next step is to complete your application form online, click on: “How to Apply,” scroll down to step 2 and click on the link:

Step 3 – Make an appointment
Making appointments with the embassy, consulate or visa application centre is generally free and can be done yourself. Step 4 – Prepare your documents
You should take the time to prepare the correct documents because every type of visa has different requirements. If you miss even 1 document, it could delay your application or it could be denied!
You should also prepare photocopies as well as providing the original documents, so don’t forget to do that too!
Documents include:
- Application form – completed fully and signed
- Passport – valid for at least 3 months after your return to the Philippines
- Copy of passport data page with all pages that have visas and stamps
- 1 x passport photograph not older than 6 months on a white background
- Proof of travel – roundtrip airline ticket reservation
- Proof of travel insurance with a minimum cover of EUR 30,000, be valid in all the Schengen countries and to cover the entire duration of the trip
- Proof of financial means – bank and/or credit card statements for the last six months
- Proof of occupation – certificate of employment and certificate of leave of absence, registration of business and/or income tax return, financial statements, proof of enrolment and certificate of leave of absence
- Marriage certificate and/or birth certificate
- If you are a non-Filipino resident – Alien Certificate of Registration and re-entry permit
- Proof of accommodation such as hotel reservation
- Proof of transportation e.g. train tickets, domestic flights or car rental (if applicable)
- Travel itinerary to show details of day-to-day planned trips
- Proof of relationship – invitation letter and host’s passport
- Proof of sponsorship
- For minor applicants – proof of legal guardianship and parental consent and passport of parents

Submitting your documents
On the day of your appointment, get to VFS Global with time to spare. If you miss your appointment, you will have to reschedule and this could delay things for you. Most importantly, remember to take everything with you. This includes your application form as well as your supporting documents and money to pay the fee.
Also at the center, you will pay the visa fee (see below) and provide biometric data which is where your fingerprints and photograph will be taken.

Visa fees are non-refundable even if your application is rejected. You can pay in cash only in Philippine Pesos.

Once you have handed in your application to VFS Global, it will be sent to the embassy for processing. You should be aware that the embassy may contact you to attend an interview if they need more information from you. They may ask you questions about your application.

Step 5 – Collect your passport

Then, key in your reference number and last name and you will be able to find out what stage your application is at:
Once a decision has been reached, your passport will be returned to VFS Global and you can collect it in person or have it returned via courier.
The decision will be either:
- Approved – your visa will be attached inside your passport
- Rejected – this would be for a specific reason
Visa applications can be rejected for any number of reasons including:
- You have a current Schengen visa – if you have previously applied for a Schengen visa and it was accepted, it may still be valid. So, check this before you apply for a new one
- No bank statements – you must provide bank statements as part of your application, so the embassy can assess your ability to afford your trip
- No marriage certificate – if you are visiting family in Luxembourg, you may have to provide your marriage certificate. This is why it is important to check the requirements to avoid a rejected application
