Applying for a Lithuania Schengen Visa from Nigeria
If you are a citizen of Nigeria or you are residing there permanently, you will need to apply for a visa if you want to go to Lithuania.
Visa applications are submitted to VFS Global in Abuja or Lagos. Once submitted, your application will be sent to the Embassy of Belgium for processing.
You may submit your application at least 15 days before and up to 90 days prior to your trip.

To apply for your visa application, there are a number of steps that you need to follow:
- Step 1 – Identify visa type
- Step 2 – Prepare your documents
- Step 3 – Book an appointment
- Step 4 – Visit a visa application center
- Step 5 – Track your application
- Step 6 – Collect your passport
Step 1 – Identify visa type
Go to VFS Global’s website and click on “start now” under “apply for a visa:

Step 2 – Prepare your documents
You will need to complete an online application form. To do this, go to VFS Global’s website and click on the link under “step 2”:
You will be directed to EPM, the online application system for Lithuania. Click on “new application”:
You will then be able to fill in the online form. You will submit it electronically, but you will need to print it out to sign and take it to VFS Global on the day of your appointment.
You will also need to prepare other supporting documents. There are checklists on VFS Global’s website, so make sure you know what the requirements are before applying. You should also prepare photocopies as well as providing the original documents, so don’t forget to do that too!
Documents include:
- Completed and signed application form completed online
- Valid travel document with at least three months remaining after your trip, 2 blank pages and issued within the previous 10 years
- One color ID photograph (made no earlier than 6 months ago) See full photo specifications for more information
- Copies of valid US, UK, Canada and any Schengen Visa
- Document proving travel medical insurance: to cover any expenses, which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment or death, during their stay in Lithuania. The minimum coverage shall be EUR 30 000
- Proof of the itinerary: Flight / travel reservations and other proof of intended transport. (e.g. a confirmation of the booking of an organised trip etc. If not available, adequate written description of the planned journey
- Confirmed proof of accommodation – hotel booking etc
- If child below 18 – copy of the birth certificate issued by National Population Commission & parental consent & ID; letter from the school stating the class attended and given permission of absence
- Evidence of sufficient means of subsistence during intended stay such as bank statements for the last 3 months or salary slips for the last three months or any regular income generated by property
- Proof of ties in Nigeria (e.g. marriage certificate, proof of real estate property)
- Proof of employment/self-employed/student/retired
- Non–Nigerian Nationals: proof of legal residence in Nigeria

Step 3 – Book an appointment
Making appointments with the embassy, consulate or visa application centre is generally free and can be done yourself. Step 4 – Visit a visa application center
There are a few things to be aware of when you visit the visa application center to submit your application:
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before your appointment
- You must apply in person. You cannot send someone in your place
- Take your visa application form
- Take your passport or travel document with at least 2 blank pages
- Take all supporting documents (see below)
- You will provide biometric data – if you have done this within the last 5 years, you should not have to do so again
Once you have submitted your visa application to VFS Global, it will be sent to the embassy in Abuja. The embassy may ask you to attend an interview if they need any more information from you. They may ask you questions like:
- Have you been to Lithuania before?
- What is your job in Nigeria?
- Are you going to work in Lithuania?
- Do you have children?
These questions are not anything to worry about and all you have to do is answer honestly.

Step 5 – Track your application
You can track your application online. Go to VFS Global’s website and click on the link under “step 5”:

Step 6 – Collect your passport
After the embassy has made a decision on your visa application, your passport will be returned to VFS Global. You can collect your passport in person or have it returned to your home by courier for an additional fee.
If your visa application has been accepted, you will find your visa attached to one of the pages in your passport. If it has been rejected, you will receive a letter telling you why. There are a few reasons for the rejection. Typical reasons include:
- Passport was issued 15 years ago – your passport must have been issued within the last 10 years. If not, you must apply for a new one before applying for your visa
- Fake documents – this could jeopardize your chance of traveling anywhere in the future and you could also risk criminal charges being brought against you, so don’t provide fake documents
- Documents missing – you must check what documents you should provide before submitting your application
- Lack of funds – you must be able to afford your trip and your documents must prove this
Visa Fees
To apply for a visa, you will have to pay a visa and a service fee. These fees are non-refundable even if your application is denied.

The visa fee is payable in Nigerian Naira.
The service fee is 18,630 NGN and is paid to cover visa application reception, data processing, information collection, appointments booking, etc.
COVID REGULATIONS
Entry Requirements
Travelers to Lithuania will be required to complete an online registration form no earlier than 48 hours before the start of the trip and to show the confirmation (QR code) to the carrier when boarding the vehicle.
Those who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 and do not have a history of past infection will be required to have a COVID-19 test (only PCR or antigen tests are recognised).
A PCR test for COVID-19 must have been taken within 72 hours before entry to Lithuania with a negative result or an antigen test must have been taken within 48 hours before the entry to Lithuania with a negative result. You must provide proof of the negative result.
If you are not vaccinated against COVID-19 or if you have not been previously infected, you must isolate for 10 days.
