Applying for a Lithuania Schengen Visa from India

If you are going to Lithuania, you will need a visa. It’s easy to apply from India as long as you are either a citizen or you are living in India permanently and you have a resident’s permit.

The Embassy of Lithuania in New Delhi makes the decision about whether to grant visas or not, but visa applications are submitted to VFS Global.

Visa applications are processed within 15 days, however, it may take longer, so you must apply at least 15 days before your trip. You can apply up to 6 months before your trip, so don’t leave it too late.

Step 4 – Visit a visa application center

On the day of your appointment:

    1. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time. If you miss your appointment on the scheduled day, you will need to book a new appointment after 24 hours from your original appointment date

A digital finger scanner collects images of all 10 digits, and you will have a digital photo taken. Without biometrics information, your visa application will not be processed

You may also be asked questions about your application. Typical questions include:

    1. How much do you earn?
    2. Are you going to work in Lithuania?
    3. When are you returning to India?
    4. What ties do you have to India?

There are different reasons why an application may get rejected:

    1. Your passport is not valid – if your passport is not valid in any way (see above requirements), you must get a new one before applying for your visa
    2. Proof of funds is not included – the embassy must see that you can afford your trip, so you must provide bank statements etc., as proof of financial means
    3. Travel insurance covers 10,000 Euros – the travel insurance you take out must cover at least 30,000 Euros, so check the details before buying the insurance
