Alternatively, you can have your passport returned to you by courier for an additional fee.

    The decision will be either:

    1. Accepted – you will find your visa attached to one of the pages in your passport
    2. Rejected – if your application is rejected, you have the right to appeal the decision within 8 days. See the embassy’s website for more information and the costs involved

Reasons for a rejected application include:

    1. Purpose of travel is not clear – your reason for traveling to Hungary must be clear. This could be tourism, visiting family or friends etc. Whatever the reason, you must provide clear evidence of this
    2. The embassy cannot ascertain whether you will leave Hungary before the visa expires – you can only stay in Hungary for a limited amount of time, so you must show you have the intention to return to India before the expiry date of the visa
