    If you are an Indian national or you live in India permanently, you can apply for a visa for Estonia. You must be in possession of a valid visa if you wish to go to Estonia.

    The visa decision process will take about 15 working days. You should apply a minimum of 3 weeks and a maximum of 6 months before your intended travel, but the earlier the better.

    The Embassy of Estonia in New Delhi processes visa applications, but you will submit your application and supporting documents to VFS Global.     There are 2 types of visas that you may apply for:

    1. Schengen C visa – for trips up to 90 days for tourism, visiting family/friends etc.
    2. D-visa (long-stay) – for trips over 90 days for work, study etc. If you are applying for this type of visa, you should send your application to the embassy and NOT VFS Global. See the embassy’s website for further information

    Step 1 – Identify visa type

    The first thing you need to do is identify the correct visa to apply for. Go to VFS Global’s website and click on “Start now”:

    Step 2 – Begin your application

    The next step is to begin your application. Go to “step 2” and click on the link to the Estonian Embassy:

    You will be directed to the online application form. Scroll down and click on the link:

    Select the option for Schengen visa and choose your preferred language:

    Insert your email address, picture code that comes up, and then continue through the application form until you complete it in full:

    Make sure to read all the instructions carefully and provide as much information as possible. Avoid typing errors and if in doubt, click on the “?” symbol next to the appropriate field for additional information.

    After completing the online application, you will be provided with the number of your visa application and the form will be emailed to you. You will also be given the choice to print the form out immediately.

    You must print and sign the application form before submitting it to VFS Global.

    Step 3 – Book an appointment

    Making appointments with the embassy, consulate or visa application center is generally free and can be done yourself.     Step 4 – Pay your fees

    Visa fees are paid when you submit your application. These fees are payable in the local currency and they are non-refundable. Applications lodged at VFS Global can be paid in cash only.

    Additional fees include:

    1. Mandatory courier service for INR 600/-
    2. SMS service for INR 350/-
    3. The applications can also be submitted in VFS Global’s Premium Lounge for INR 2900/-

    Step 5 – Visit a visa application center

    On the day of your appointment:

    1. Aim to arrive 15 minutes before your appointment
    2. You must attend the appointment for your visa application. You cannot send someone in your place
    3. Only applicants and one parent/caregiver accompanying a child under 18 years are permitted to enter the offices of VFS Global
    4. Bring a printed copy of your visa application, 2D barcoded sheets (2 copies), passport bio page (2 copies), as well as a valid passport or travel document with at least 2 pages that are blank on both sides
    5. Bring all supporting documentation (originals and copies)
    6. If you haven’t paid your visa fee online, you can pay your fees once you get to the center
    7. You will also need to submit your fingerprints and photograph. This is known as biometric information collection and without this, your visa application will not be processed
    8. If you miss your appointment on the scheduled day, you will need to book a new appointment after 24 hours from your original appointment date.

    You may also be asked questions about your trip. If this happens, don’t worry, just answer as truthfully as you can. Example questions include:

    1. Are you married?
    2. How old are your children?
    3. Are you going to work in Estonia?
    4. When are you returning to India?

    Step 6 – Track your application

    You can track your application by going to “step 6 – track your application” and clicking on the link:

    Step 7 – Collect your passport

    After a visa application decision has been made, you can either:

    1. Pick up your documents from VFS Global. If you are collecting your documents, remember to take the receipt issued by VFS Global and your ID
    2. Have your documents returned to you by courier for an additional fee

    Please check with VFS Global for the options available to collect your documents when you submit your application.

    The decision will be either:

    1. Accepted – you will find your visa attached to one of the pages in your passport
    2. Rejected – your application may be rejected for a number of reasons and you will be notified by the embassy why it was rejected. You have the right to appeal the decision which costs 20 Euros. Please see the embassy’s website about how to do this

    Reasons for a rejected application include:

    1. You do not have a valid travel document – your passport must be valid. If not, you must get a new one before applying for your visa
    2. You cannot prove the reason for your stay – you must have a valid reason for traveling to Estonia and you should be able to provide documents as sufficient evidence
    3. You have not submitted bank statements – the embassy must see that you can afford your trip, so you must provide bank statements as part of your application
    4. The embassy has doubts as to your intention to return to India – you must show the embassy that you have an intention to return to your home country such as proof of work or property ownership

    Reasons For Schengen Visa Rejections

    Documents Required

    Check the embassy’s website to find out what documents are required for your visa application. You must provide everything that is required, otherwise, your application could be rejected.

    You should also submit photocopies along with original documents.

    Documents include:

    1. Passport – issued within the last 10 years, contains at least three (3) blank pages for visas, is valid at least 3 months after the expiration date of the visa
    2. Indian citizens: old passport (mandatory, if not, FIR or proof of cancellation)
    3. Application form – completed, printed and signed
    4. Color photo – must be taken within last 6 months (see full photograph specifications)
    5. Proof of financesyou should have proof of at least 100 EUR per day of stay in Estonia. If employed: last 3 months salary slips and bank account statements. If selfemployed and/or company owner: business registration certificate & last 3 months bank account statements. If retired: proof of pension income. If student or unemployed: parent’s bank statements for the last 3 months
    6. Travel medical insurance – valid in Schengen countries with a coverage of at least 30,000 EUR for the entire duration of stay in the Schengen area
    7. Cover letter name, passport number and travel date as per the ticket along with the travel plan with travel dates
    8. Proof of accommodation for the whole duration in the Schengen area such as hotel reservations
    9. Proof of means of transportflight ticket reservation with return tickets
    10. Introduction letter business letterhead from the employer/company, signed and stamped by HR or directorate mentioning your position and the duration of your service. “No objection statement” regarding the planned trip to Estonia/Schengen States. The dates and purpose of the trip
    11. Children under 18 years old written parental consent certified by public notary & copies of parent’s passports
    12. Students Copy of the student college ID card and introduction letter of the school/college/university
    13. Passport copy of 1st page (bio data) and last page of the passport
    14. If traveling for business – invitation letter from the organizer of the event or the training and/or work permit (if applicable)

    COVID REGULATIONS

    Entry into Estonia for the purposes of work, studying, tourism, sports etc is also allowed for the citizens of other countries (both European Union and third countries). The citizens of third countries have to have a valid Schengen visa in order to be able to enter the country.

    As long as you can present a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate; a valid COVID-19 recovery certificate; or a negative PCR or antigen test 48 hours before arrival in Estonia, there are no restrictions on entry.
