If you are a citizen of India or you are living there on a permanent basis and can show your residence permit, then applying for a visa for Denmark is easy.

All you have to do is prepare your application and supporting documents and hand them into one of the offices of VFS Global.

VFS Global are responsible for accepting your visa application, but it is the Embassy of Denmark in New Delhi that makes the decision whether to grant your visa or not. Your application will be sent by VFS Global to the embassy once you have submitted it.

It takes around 15 days for applications to be processed, but some cases will require further enquiry or documentation, so the processing time may be longer. You can apply up to 6 months before your trip, so make sure you apply in time.

Step 7 – Collect your passport

After a visa application decision has been made, you can pick up your passport from VFS Global. You will need to take the receipt issued by VFS Global and some ID.

    The decision will be either:

    1. Accepted – you will find your visa attached to one of the pages in your passport
    2. Rejected – if your application is rejected, you can appeal the decision within 8 weeks

There are different reasons why an application may get rejected:

    1. Bank statements not included – you must provide the last 3 bank statements, so the embassy can determine whether you can afford the trip
    2. Fake documents – do not provide fake documents because the embassy will check details such as flight and/or hotel reservations etc. If you do this, it could jeopardize your ability to get a visa now and in the future
    3. Passport not valid – if your passport is invalid in any way (see below), you must get a new one before making an application for a visa
    4. No invitation letter – if you are being invited to Denmark by a person to stay with them or a business/company is asking you to attend a conference etc., you must provide an invitation letter

    Documents Required

There are checklists on VFS Global’s website for the documents required, so use these when you are getting your documents together. You also need to sign the checklist and submit it as part of your application.

You should also submit photocopies along with original documents.

    Documents include:

    1. Application form completely filled out online printed and signed
    2. Visa fee payment receipt
    3. One recent passport photo – 35×45, not older than 6 months and on a white background (see full photograph specifications)
