Step 1 – Check your document list
Before applying for a visa, it is a good idea to check what documents are required to be submitted. If you don’t provide everything you need, your application could be rejected. In order to know what the required documents are, you need to download the checklist which can be found on TLS Contact’s website.
You should also prepare photocopies as well as providing the original documents, so don’t forget to do that too!
Documents include:
- A fully completed and signed application form
- Passport photo according to photograph specifications (colour, 35×45 mm & less than 6 months old)
- Passport (at least 2 free pages, not older than 10 years, valid for at least three months beyond the duration of the visa)
- Proof of the means of transport – round trip airline ticket reservation
- Travel, health and accident insurance (minimum coverage € 30,000, including repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention or emergency hospital treatment & valid for the Schengen area
- An invitation letter stating name, address, relationship to host and duration of stay
- Proof of financial means – 3 x bank statements
- Parents authority for underage children traveling alone

Step 2 – Complete the Visa on Web form (MFA Website)
This is your visa application form and it must be completed on Visa on Web. Go to TLS Contact’s website and click on the link under “step 2”:

You should complete and print your application prior to booking an appointment. As soon as your form is validated your application form will be sent to your email address. The form should be completed in capital letters using black ink and must be signed by the applicant in person.
Step 3 – Create your TLS Contact account
Next, you’ll need to create your TLS Contact account. Registration will allow you to check the status of your application step by step. Go to TLS Contact’s website and click on the link under “step 3”:

Step 4 – Input your data
Simply, log in to your account and fill in the requested personal data.
Step 5 – Make an appointment
Making appointments with the embassy, consulate or visa application centre is generally free and can be done yourself. Step 7 – Passport collection
After the embassy has made a decision on your visa application, your passport will be returned to TLS Contact. You will be sent a text as soon as the passport arrives.
You can collect your passport in person – you must take your application checklist & photographic ID (both original and copy)
You can also choose to have your passport collected by a representative – they must take your application checklist, copy of YOUR photographic ID as well as their photographic ID (both original & copy) AND a letter of authorization signed by you (clearly stating the representative’s details).
You can also choose to have your passport returned by express courier for an additional cost.
Hopefully, your visa application will be accepted. However, there are times when applications get refused. This could be for a number of reasons including:
- Passport not valid for over 90 days after the trip – if this is the case, you must apply for a new passport before applying for your visa
- No proof of financial means – the embassy needs to see that you can afford your trip, so you must provide proof of this. Usually, you can provide 3 x bank statements
- Documents not signed – remember to check that you have signed where you need to, particularly the application form
- No invitation letter – if you are being invited to Belgium by a company or a person, you must provide an invitation letter

Entry Requirements
Nigeria is currently on the red list with regard to entry requirements to Belgium.
From August, 1st, all persons traveling through Belgium and who are staying at least 48 hours must fill out an identification form (Passenger Locator Form). You can find this form here.
Travel to Belgium from outside the EU/Schengen Area
Those arriving in Belgium from a country outside the EU designated as red must test on day 1 or 2 following arrival and quarantine until receiving a negative result. A second test must be taken on day 7. This requirement applies even if you are fully vaccinated.
